Tamil Nadu runs several schemes that help with the cost of a marriage. Each one below lists who qualifies, what is paid, what to carry and where to apply.
Amounts and income limits change with state budgets. Confirm with your District Social Welfare Officer before relying on any figure here. Applications are free — nobody should ask you for money to submit one.
Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme

Supports a widow who chooses to remarry, so that rebuilding a life is not held back by cost.
What you receive
₹25,000 in total — ₹15,000 by bank transfer and ₹10,000 as a National Savings Certificate — with an 8 gram 22 carat gold coin for the thirumangalyam. Degree or diploma holders receive ₹50,000 (₹30,000 transfer, ₹20,000 NSC) with the same gold coin.

Helps a widowed mother meet the cost of her daughter's marriage.
What you receive
₹25,000 with an 8 gram 22 carat gold coin for the thirumangalyam. Graduates and diploma holders receive ₹50,000 with the same gold coin.

What you receive

Supports couples marrying across caste lines, as part of the state's long-standing effort against caste discrimination.
What you receive
₹25,000 in total — ₹15,000 by bank transfer and ₹10,000 as a National Savings Certificate — with a gold coin for the thirumangalyam. Degree or diploma holders receive a higher amount on the same basis.

One spouse is from a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe and the other from a different community, or one is from a Forward Community and the other from a BC or MBC community

What you receive
The higher education scheme pays ₹1,000 per month through the course of an undergraduate degree, diploma or ITI, and is in addition to other scholarships.
Who qualifies

From 2022-23 the marriage assistance scheme was reworked into the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme, known as Pudhumai Penn
